Tamarind comes from the tamarind tree and consists of a brown skin containing flesh and a stone. The taste of tamarind can be described as sweet and sour. Jeeny's Tamarind & Pit is suitable for preparing sauces (often combined with mango) for grilling dishes and as a marinade for meat and fish. Sinigang (Filipino sour soup) is also prepared with tamarind as are all kinds of Indian chutneys and curries.
