Panko Japanese breadcrumbs give your prawns, fish, or chicken a delicious crispy, crumbly coat. Panko is used in combination with flour and egg, with which you dip your ingredient first in flour, then in a beaten egg, then in panko. You can then fry or deep-fry the ingredient, resulting in a crispy crust. It gives a different texture than tempura.
